Global Focus on Workplace Safety and Health

April 28 is the 2019 World Day for Safety and Health at Work, and the theme is the “future of work” around the globe.

This awareness day is part of the centenary anniversary of the U.N.’s International Labour Organization (ILO), which will “[L]aunch a global report ... sharing the story of a 100 years in saving lives and promoting safe and healthy working environments.”

To fuel that discussion, the ILO website is posting “33 original think pieces from the real faces of the occupational safety and health community from around the world who will share strong messages and testimonials on OSH and the future of work from a variety of expert and practical aspects.” The series of articles covers topics from supporting health & safety in small businesses to integrating OHS management systems with general performance management systems to a look at the past and future of safety science.

You can access all the ILO articles here.

HSI’s commitment to helping employers keep their workers safe and healthy on the job is reflected throughout our portfolio of EHS and emergency care compliance offerings:

  • Programs from both ASHI and MEDIC First Aid feature real-life scenarios in workplace settings to help first aid, AED, and CPR class content come to life for students who receive emergency care training through their employer. MEDIC First Aid is especially recommended for in-house instructors for whom emergency care training isn’t their primary job function. These curriculum-based, standardized programs make it easy to bring lifesaving skills to your workforce.

  • Bloodborne pathogens training is critical for a wide variety of occupations, and HSI offers a number of BBP solutions across several of our brands, including ASHI, MEDIC First Aid, Summit Training Source, and Vivid Learning Systems. For more on OSHA’s BBP requirements, see our ASHI and MEDIC First Aid newsletter series here and here.)

  • For extensive catalogs of a wide variety of workplace safety training courses, including OSHA 10- and 30-Hour for Construction and General Industry and HAZWOPER, explore our Vivid Learning Systems and Summit Training Source websites.
