The New HSI Advocacy Center Needs You

Ensuring that our ASHI and MEDIC First Aid programs are approved for fulfilling regulatory requirements for emergency care training is among the most important thing our HSI regulatory department does.

Our programs are endorsed, accepted, approved, or recognized as industry credentialed and meet the requirements of more than 4,700 state and provincial regulatory agencies, occupational licensing boards, national associations, commissions, and councils.

We closely monitor laws and regulations affecting our training programs and work diligently to ensure compliance. When necessary, we engage state and provincial authorities and object to laws and regulations that restrain competition or unfairly grant an exclusive market to other organizations. We are often successful in our efforts to gain acceptance.

But we are vastly more successful when we partner with local training providers and instructors!

So we’ve created the HSI Advocacy Center website resource as a way to work together with you to gain and maintain official acceptance and approval.

In our regulatory issues database, we offer two easy ways for you to let your representatives know you want ASHI and MEDIC First Aid approved in your area. When you visit “regulatory issues” and “legislative issues” tabs, you’ll find:

Petition-Signing Campaigns for Existing Regulations

Just click on the “Sign the Petition” button, read about the issue, and if you support the changes, complete the required information to sign the petition. The more signers we have, the more training community support we can demonstrate for getting the existing regulation changed. We will include the signed petition as an important piece of evidence in our formal request to the regulatory agency.

Letter-Writing Campaigns for Proposed Regulations

A letter writing campaign is an effort to change a proposed regulation before it is adopted, and we’ve already done most of the work in crafting those letters for you. To keep the message consistent, we provide the opening and closing portions of the letter outlining our position; you only need to write the middle section of the letter. You just need to write a little about yourself, your business or organization, and why you support the changes we are recommending. Click on the “Write a Letter” button, read about the issue, and if you support the changes we recommend, complete the required information and hit “send”.  It takes less time than you think and makes a very big difference. Your voice really does matter, especially when the proposed regulations are in the state you live and work.

On the site, you’ll also find a database filled with the proposed regulations we are following as well as a regulatory news feed from CLEAR, the Council on Licensure, Enforcement, and Regulation, of which HSI is a member.

Visit our Advocacy Center and register to use this free resource today.
