A great teacher is someone you remember for years after your class. All instructors hope to achieve such a hall-of-fame status with their students, but for the emergency care instructor, the motivation to do so goes far beyond mere personal satisfaction.
Simply put, if they remember us, they might remember the course content we presented to them as well. And when they remember their CPR, AED, and first aid skills and techniques, those students may be more inclined to respond in an emergency, sometimes saving a life as a result.
Good teaching is as much about our passion for what we teach as it is about the actual skills we teach. Somewhere, sometime, the training that we provide to one of our students will absolutely make a difference in that person’s life and the life of the person they help.
