In anticipation of our new HSI programs with updated 2020 guidelines, we are releasing the HSI Instructor Update course today in your Otis portal. All currently authorized Instructors must complete the course to be authorized to teach the new HSI programs when they are released.

The HSI Instructor Update course will provide you with information about our new programs, administrative updates, instructor authorization levels, and introduce you to the new instructional design, layout, and features of our new programs.

The course will be in your Otis portal starting today. If you don’t see it yet, please check back in a few hours, as the updates are rolling out throughout the day.

Instructors:

  • Log in to your Otis dashboard
  • Click on the "2020 Update Course" launcher tile at the top of your screen

We know you appreciate the rapid changes in treatment recommendations, and going forward, we recognize the potential for annual updates. To ensure Instructors are active and using updated materials, the Instructor authorization period will transition from two years to one year. This update will happen on a rolling basis, so when your current Instructor authorization period expires, your renewal will be for one year.

Please note, the HSI Instructor Update course MUST be completed prior to being authorized to purchase or conduct classes using the new HSI programs.

One HSI

ECare One HSIASHI, EMS Safety and MEDIC First Aid have come together as HSI

We are excited to announce that our three brands, American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), EMS Safety, and MEDIC First Aid, are being transitioned into one, unified brand—HSI.

We’ve heard your feedback regarding a desire for more streamlined processes. Bringing the three brands into one will allow us to give you even better Instructor and TC procedures as well as tools which translate into efficiencies for your certification training needs going forward.

Updates to Instructor authorization cards and levels are being made in Otis. Every authorized Instructor will maintain their current registry number on the updated HSI Instructor card in Otis which reflects the level you are currently authorized to teach.

The 2020 HSI Instructor Update course will provide more detailed information about this transition.

New Programs

Ecare_G2020_BinderMockups2020 HSI Programs Available Soon

The 2020 HSI Programs are in the final stages of production, and program packages will be available to pre-order after completion of the new HSI Instructor Update course.

Over the years we’ve talked to you—our valued TCs and Instructors—and did our best to incorporate your suggestions into the new, single unified HSI programs. You’ll find familiar instructional elements selected from each original brand as we incorporate the most current guidelines and treatment recommendations.

The initial release of our 2020 programs are expected to be available starting in December and include:

  • HSI Adult First Aid | CPR AED
  • HSI Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • HSI Pediatric First Aid | CPR AED

As we have done in the past, we’ll give TCs and Instructors a transition period to use existing G2015 student certification materials before they will no longer be recognized by HSI.

Certification cards will continue to display the ASHI, EMS Safety and MEDIC First Aid logos until they are slowly phased out as we try to avoid confusion during the brand transition to HSI.

Please note, all pre-orders will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis, as soon as we begin shipping orders in December. So the sooner you complete the HSI Instructor Update course and order a new 2020 HSI Program package, the earlier you’ll receive it!

A Sneak Peek

Behind the scenes_149062020 Programs - Behind the Scenes

A new guidelines year is always a hectic one as we write new programs, scripts and bring new training recommendations to life with video. This year proved even more challenging as we faced travel restrictions, heightened safety protocols and even paper shortages (a first for us).

Even with those constraints, our production crew kept hard at work in the city of Eugene and the remote wilds of Oregon. Here’s a peek behind the scenes of our team in action!
