RSV & Agile Workforce

WhatsNew_225x152HSI's new Remote Skills Verification (RSV) and Agile Workforce Toolkit

Remote Skills Verification (RSV)

HSI's RSV with blended learning allows you to offer training to customers who need it most, along with complete flexibility in location and scheduling. RSV uses our current blended learning platform and takes it to a new level of service that lets you choose how you want the hands-on skills components delivered to your students.

Now available in Otis 3.0, you can select the RSV option that best meets your needs and your customers' requirements. Depending on your choice, you'll get:

  • RSV-logo-white bkg trnspFully integrated solution for your live, online skills session
  • Hands-on skills components sent to your customer(s)
  • Automatic email communications and notifications
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Instant certification delivery

Your students learn at their own pace and demonstrate their required hands-on skills with you live online through our fully-integrated RSV portal.

For more information on RSV, be sure to visit our webpage with an overview video, FAQ's, and a link to a webinar that walks you through the process.

Agile Workforce Toolkit

HSI is working on various ways to help support Training Centers during this time. After many conversations, it is clear our customers are struggling with the same things we are: how to track and report on COVID-19 cases, safety for employees, and migration to home office environments. In response, we’ve launched our Agile Workforce Toolkit.

Why track and report?

  • Help combat spread among your workforce and the community
  • Minimize your company's risk
  • Operational readiness, so you can plan for workforce outages
  • Regulatory compliance

Use pre-built online forms to help you track and report on key areas of your operation, feeding essential data from your workforce in real-time to a central dashboard.

If your organization is struggling with plans and systems to navigate this crisis, please reach out to us here. We can help.

Instructor Management

Reauthorization_2020_225x152Instructor and Instructor Trainer Reauthorization

Effective April 9, 2020, HSI is extending the authorization period by 120 days for all currently Authorized Instructors or Instructor Trainers whose two-year authorization period ends between March 1 and August 1, 2020. HSI will take responsibility for managing this extension by automatically extending the authorization period.

For example, if an instructor’s authorization is set to expire on May 20, 2020, their authorization period will be automatically extended to September 20, 2020. Their Instructor Authorization card in the Otis Learning Manager Portal will reflect the new expiration date. This extension of the authorization period may be increased or more widely applied based on the rapidly evolving COVID-19 public health crisis.

A COVID-19 Update on this topic can be downloaded here or accessed through your Otis portal.

Remote Skills Verification

RSV 30sec_videoFAQs

We've compiled the most popular questions about our new RSV technology in a Frequently-Asked-Questions format. You can see the complete FAQs document here.

In addition to the FAQs, you can also watch our video explaining how RSV works for the Instructor and the Student by clicking on this link.

Q: What are the RSV options?

A: Depending on the program, there are three RSV options:

  1. RSV: Training Center provides student with all hands-on components needed for remote verification
  2. RSV-M: HSI will ship hands-on skill components directly to student to use and return to HSI
  3. RSV-D: HSI will ship hands-on skill components directly to student to keep

Q: How do I know if my student received their manikin and related hands-on skill components for the RSV-M and RSV-D options?

A: If you are using the HSI service for shipping manikins, Otis 3.0 will contain notices of the shipping process. If there is a problem, your student will be instructed to contact HSI since we are responsible for delivery and acceptance.

Q:  How does my student return their rental manikin?

A:  A return label is included with each rental manikin package. Once your RSV session is complete, ask your students to repackage the manikin and place the return label on the box (covering the existing label). This package can be dropped off at any FedEx store or FedEx affiliated ship center in the U.S. Search online for “FedEx Pickup near me” to find qualified locations.

Q: How long does a remote, hands-on skills verification session take?

A: We have provided you, the TC, some flexibility to set-up your hands-on session availability in 30, 45, 60, 75- and 90-minute increments within the RSV scheduling module. Please note that if you run over the time scheduled it will not cut-off or end your current session but will delay the next session if you have back-to-back verifications scheduled. We suggest always leaving some time between sessions or scheduling your availability longer than you anticipate just in case.

Q: What do I do If I need to reschedule an RSV session with my student?

A:  Communicate with them via email or over the phone. The student can cancel and reschedule up to 24 hours before the skills class time (notification will be posted), however, to make sure the student knows you are unavailable, a direct communication is recommended.

Q: What if my student needs to reschedule?

A: Your student may reschedule and the Instructor will be notified each time. Rescheduling by the student is limited to 4 times per program.

Q: What equipment do I, as an Instructor, need to conduct the RSV session?

A: Along with a computer that has a webcam, you will need the same equipment you would need in a traditional class (i.e. manikin, AED trainer, gloves, etc.) to conduct instructor demonstrations for the appropriate skills for the course you are providing.

Q: If you have a group or company to train, can the TC order 1 RSV-M set and have the group use the same manikin for each student after it is cleaned and sanitized?

A: Yes, you can send 1 RSV-M and have the others in the group use the manikin after they cleaned and prepped it between use. RSV will need to be purchased for the rest of the students in the group, and it will be up to the TC to supply the extra lung bags, cleaning items and training kits.

Q: Is HSI working with ZOOM or GoToMeeting? If so, will there be a subscription discount offered by HSI for TCs to use one of these platforms for RSV?

A: No, we are using a 3rd party tool that is integrated into the Otis 3.0 platform. One of the benefits for our TCs is that there are no subscription costs.

Q: Is RSV available for all HSI Emergency Care brands and courses?

A: RSV will be available to all ASHI, MEDIC First Aid and EMS Safety TCs for courses up to BLS that have been available previously in Blended Learning. EMS Safety TCs have been provided access to ASHI Blended courses up to the level they are authorized to train.

Q: Will this be a permanent option moving forward or just for COVID-19?

A:  We plan to keep this option available for TCs that have a use for RSV technology.

Q: How much does RSV cost?

A: For a list of RSV options by course and pricing please login into your Otis 3.0 platform and see the most current breakdown.
